Merchant mariners at war

"This collection of interviews with 59 U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduates who served during the war provides a seldom-seen perspective on World War II maritime history. Gathered over more than a decade at the academy in Kings Point, New York, these selected interviews together offer a unique portrait of the young officers who delivered the trucks, locomotives, and other vital war material. The veterans' recollections open a window into the world of the merchant marine during World War II and include startling accounts of privation and brave endurance."--BOOK JACKET.
