The July 1994 workshop, like previous workshops, was a satellite of the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism meeting and, like previous workshops, presented new information about the three enzyme systems--aldehyde dehydrogenase, aldo-keto reductase, and aldo-keto reductase aldehyde dehydrogenase. Among the topics in these proceedings are site directed mutagenesis to probe for active site components of liver mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase; structure and mechanism of aldehyde reductase; and the alcohol dehydrogenase system.
