Master Potter of Meiji Japan

This is a study of the life and works of Makuzu Kozan (1842-1916). It traces the influences on his work and relates developments in Makuzu ware to the work of other major potters of the era to provide an insight into this formative transitional era in the history of Japanese ceramics.
